We regret to announce that Mixwit will cease to exist at the end of the
year.The website and profiles will be turned off around Dec 27th and
all embedded widgets will stop playing before the end of December.

We've put a year of work into Mixwit so this choice wasn't taken lightly. I
won't go into the details of our situation but state simply that we
boldly marched into in a position best described as "between a rock and a
hard place." We're very grateful to be have been part of the mixtape
revival of '08 and are satisfied to be able to to bow out while things
are still good.

You guys are all amazing. It's clear that all of you put a ton of time and
effort into your mixes. For me personally, I was looking forward to all of
the designs people created for their tapes. There was a lot of basic tapes
and many lovely photos, but the designs and artwork - WOW!

We're very sorry that this has to end. We're going to try to figure out
some way to archive the artwork and playlists, if for nothing at least
historic value. As for now, everything needs to be shut down by the end
of the year just to make sure we've got a clean start for 2009.

We'll return early next year with a new company and new toys. Until
then, enjoy the holidays and please take good care of yourselves,
your families, and your friends =)

Biliyorsun, benim de içinde bulunduğum ve dünyanın dört bir yanından gelen, 20'si TÜBİTAK UEKAE çalışanı, 110 kadar geliştirici ve yüzlerce katkıcı, hep birlikte, yaklaşık 2004'ten bu yana Pardus'u geliştiriyoruz. Türkiye'nin en büyük yazılım projesi olan Pardus, dört yıl gibi kısa bir sürede, global pazarda sesini duyuran, sadece Türkiye'de 150 bin sistemde kullanılan bir ürün haline geldi.

Peki, nereye gidiyoruz?

IDC'nin rakamlarına göre, global özgür yazılım pazarı 2001 yılında 5,8 milyar dolara ulaşacak. Özgür yazılım pazarının henüz 2006 yılındaki büyüklüğünün 1,8 milyar dolarlık bir büyüklüğe sahip olduğunu bilmek, bu pazarın nasıl bir hızla büyüdüğünü göstermesi açısından son derece ilginç.

IBM, Sun Microsystems, Novell, Nokia, Google gibi yazılım devlerinin yatırımlarıyla giderek büyük bir hızla büyüyen özgür yazılım pazarı, Türkiye'de de hareketli günler yaşıyor. TÜBİTAK UEKAE'nin öncülüğünde geliştirilen Pardus, geçtiğimiz hafta Göç Ortağı programını duyurdu, 2009-2011 döneminde global pazarın önemli oyuncularına özel ürünler geliştirmek üzere görüşmelerde olduğunu açıkladı.

Bu noktada, bir blog sahibi olarak, senin de ilgini çekeceğini düşündüğüm bazı sorularla karşı karşıyayız:

Türk özgür yazılımcıları nasıl para kazanacağını biliyor mu?
Özgür yazılımı geliştirme sürecinin önemli ayaklarından biri topluluk yönetimi (community management). Türkiye'de topluluk yönetimi ne kadar biliniyor?

Bu nedenle, özgür yazılım pazarlaması ve topluluk yönetim süreçlerinde çok önemli bir isim olan Sandro Groganz'ı Türkiye'ye getirdik.

Sandro Groganz, vereceği seminerde bu stratejinin gelişiminde nelere dikkat edilmesi gerektiğini, müşterilerin bir özgür yazılım projesine katkı veren insanlara nasıl dönüştürüleceğini örnekleriyle birlikte anlatacak ve özgür yazılımın pazarlamaya gereksinim duyup duymadığı sorusuna da cevap arayacak.

TÜBİTAK UEKAE ve IBM-Bilgi CAS işbirliği ile yapılacak olan seminer, 27 Kasım 2008 Perşembe günü saat 13:00'da Bilgi Üniversitesi Dolapdere Kampüsü'nde yapılacak.
